Rick Esposito received his Bachelors degree in fine arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University. His first sculpture studio was in his garage in Washington DC in 1971.
During that year he began teaching fine art at Archbishop John Carroll High School in Washington D.C. His is medium of choice was stone. In 1975 he was accepted as an apprentice stone carver at the Washington National Cathedral.
His time apprenticing at the Washington National Cathedral was an enriching and rewarding experience. Upon finishing his apprenticeship he traveled to Carrara Italy to continue his training. While studying traditional stone carving at the Instituto Professonale Del Marmo, he rented space at Nicole Studio, which he shared with other sculptors from around the world. His body of work was crated and shipped to Philadelphia for his first solo exhibition at Gross McCleaf Gallery,Philadelphia, Pa.
